Ratchet Belt Resizing — Complete Cutting and Fitting Guide
Hongmioo ratchet belts (automatic buckle belts) ship in a single universal length that works for most waist sizes. The strap is intentionally longer than needed so you can cut it to your exact size. Proper resizing takes about five minutes and requires only a measuring tape and sharp cutting tool.
Resizing Steps
Release the Strap
Open the buckle's back clamp by prying it upward gently. Slide the strap completely out of the buckle channel.
Calculate Cut Length
Your waist measurement + 7 inches (18 cm) = total strap length. Example: 34" waist + 7" = 41" strap. Measure from the strap tip and mark the spot.
Cut Cleanly
Using sharp scissors or a knife, cut straight across at the marked point. If the strap has a stitched end, cut just past the last bar-tack stitch.
Reinsert and Lock
Push the cut end firmly into the buckle clamp. Make sure it reaches full depth. Close the clamp and press down until it clicks securely.
Test Fit
Try the belt on. The ideal fit uses the center ratchet tooth. If it is too tight or too loose, adjust the cutting length by 0.5" increments.
Do not cut the buckle end of the strap — only cut from the tip end. Cutting the wrong end may make the belt unusable. When in doubt, measure twice and cut once.
